MEET THE TEAM
John Herring founded WHE in 2015 and was the co-founder of A-1 Global Holdings, Inc. (formerly A-1 Roof Trusses) in 1977. Beginning as a minor stockholder, he purchased controlling stock in 1986 and became the sole owner and operator. After selling A-1 in 2004, John retired for two years before taking over the business again in 2008. He serves as the Company’s CEO, and has over 45 years of experience in the Truss Manufacturing Industry.
Mr. Herring also serves as President of J.R. Herring Enterprises Inc., BetKor Properties, LLC, Jenack III, LLC and Integrated Performance Systems, LLC.
Mr. Herring received his Bachelors of Arts degree from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont, where he studied Political Science, Pre-Law and Liberal Arts. John has been inducted into the Wood Truss Council Hall of Fame, and has been a presenter numerous times for the Building Component and Machinery Conference. In the past 40 years, Mr. Herring has designed and built 11 truss manufacturing facilities across the nation, including A-1’s two state of the art facilities, totaling over 340,000 square feet.
In addition to manufacturing, John has many interests in the aeronautical field. He is a Certified Private Pilot with experience in over 25 aircraft types. Mr. Herring serves as a Lifetime Board Member with the Wellington Boys & Girls Club. John resides in Wellington, FL, with his wife, Linda Herring.

Ryan Bays is a founding team member of Whole House Engineering. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and joined Whole house Engineering in 2016. His background includes extensive truss design knowledge from work in the wood truss industry where he worked on custom, multifamily, and tract projects for some of the biggest builders in Florida. Beyond trusses, Ryan has performed designs and inspections on various residential and commercial projects. He often performs inspections and repair designs for truss modifications in existing homes which always present unique challenges. Ryan enjoys solving complex problems and is always looking to bring new solutions to problems both common and unique. Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys fishing the Indian River Lagoon and is an avid basketball fan. Ryan is an active member of ASCE.

Jose joined WHE in 2020 and gained experience with prefabricated wood truss design in custom and tract projects. He previously worked in Lima Peru in a variety of construction projects such as custom houses, reinforced concrete residential mid-rise buildings, and sport venues. He got his Engineer in Training Certificate in 2019. In his free time, he enjoys cycling and practicing sports such as swimming, soccer and running. He also likes reading fiction novels, history, and sci-fi books.

Jason joined WHE in 2022 after having received his Civil Engineering degree from Florida Atlantic University and Engineer in Training certificate in 2021. *Prior to this, he worked as a truss designer, mentor, and trainer at our sister company, A-1 Industries for 8 years. He has designed prefabricated wood trusses for projects ranging from single family homes, to apartment buildings and hotels. Jason is known among the team to be a great coordinator and communicator. He enjoys doing presentations about our work, especially to students and future engineers. As a native Floridian, Jason enjoys being outdoors doing anything from biking to kayaking.
