Structural Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to fill a permanent opening. This position leads design projects for residential and commercial projects in order to ensure safe, efficient designs are delivered on time for our clients.

Job Purpose:-

Lead design and engineering projects for the residential and commercial construction industries.

Qualifications:-

  • 4 -8 years’ experience related to structural/residential engineering work
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
  • Motivated to develop engineering leaders and evolve the engineering profession
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE, AISC and ACI
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of professionals
  • Committed to providing exceptional client service and technical excellence
  • Experience with multiple design software
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Looking for long-term growth

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Lead structural design projects
  • Train, coach or mentor members of the project team
  • Coordinate and communicate with Architects/Designers, Truss Manufacturers, MEP Trades, General Contractors and Field Project Managers
  • Perform structural analysis of wood frame and masonry building components including foundations, wall and roof structures, evaluating loading cases
  • Support in the development of construction drawings and specifications
  • Attend meetings with coordinating parties to resolve structural complexities
  • Manage project schedules

Position type/Expected Hours of work:-

Salaried full-time employee. Able to work independently. Must be able to work normal hours of Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, but also be willing to work overtime when necessary.

Travel:-

Travel may include day trips to construction job sites to gather data and consult with builders, architects, and field personnel.

BIM Coordinator

BIM Coordinator Creates, Manages, and coordinates BIM Standards development and implementation on all related BIM projects, Files, and Models. Supports R&D and Software developments projects. Supports Engineers and Designers with resources and training required to design and engineer projects using BIM software. Coordinate with 3rd party software vendors for development and software quality. Team members demonstrate our core values of Ownership, Passion, Honesty, and Respect.

Reports to: Vice President

Essential Functions

  • Develop a working knowledge of company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
  • Develop and maintain specifications, product offerings, and marketing documentation
  • Responsible for developing and managing BIM standards and content; including design standards, naming conventions, families, workflows, and processes for single and multi-discipline efficiencies for BIM and CAD
  • Coordinate BIM Standards collaboration meetings and training sessions with design team
  • Develop and maintain training manuals for BIM applications, tools, and workflows
  • Design, model, and detail projects in BIM for construction documents
  • Coordinate and manage drawing and modeling templates and content for WHE plans and models
  • Coordinate with project team, engineers, and designers on production of models and plans
  • Coordinate with schematic and conceptual design team and project manager to ensure smooth production of designs
  • Coordinate with estimating teams to ensure proper takeoffs and processes
  • Coordinate modeling setup as required for marketing efforts
  • Create presentations for BIM services provided for general use and customer specific projects
  • Coordinate with 3rd Party software development team for enhancements, features, and bug fixes for design and workflow software
  • Assist with design/development of floor plans and elevations

Miscellaneous / Additional

  • Maintain a high level of discretion/confidentiality in all matters
  • Provide BIM/Revit training for company and customers
  • Provide BIM Consulting to customers and design partners
  • Provide stakeholder collaboration with material supply partners

Requirements Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, HSB CAD, Alpine
  • Familiarity with Construction and/or Engineering
  • Broad knowledge of residential design and construction
  • Broad knowledge of BIM Software

Education

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college/technical school experience and/or equivalent training.

 

Travel

  • Travel may include day trips to construction jobsites to gather data and consult with builders, architects, and field personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Time is spent primarily sitting/standing in a climate-controlled office environment or shared office space.
  • Time is spent looking at a computer screen, keyboarding and using a mouse.
  • Must make sure work aids are used that reduce eye strain, back trouble and carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and see. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
